Sozo internship

Open to New and Seasoned Ministers

Our team has a broad range of knowledge and skills, so we’re confident each session will give you new ideas and tools for your own ministry. We believe there’s always room for growth, and we offer two training programs for you to choose from.

Sozo First Chair Training Program

Learn to lead your own Sozo sessions. Limited to 10 interns.

Term 1: Observe Only

September 1 to December 1

  • Observe sessions
  • Attend weekly Monday morning meetings (8:30 to 10 a.m. PST)
  • Complete Advanced Sozo Training in person or by e-course (included in tuition)
  • Personal ministry coaching session with Cyndi Barber
  • Eligible for discounted Sozo sessions at the Transformation Center

Term 2: Tag Team

December 2 to March 15

  • Tag team with the first chair minister for portions of the sessions you observe
  • Attend weekly Monday morning meetings (8:30 to 10 a.m. PST)
  • Actively practice Sozo outside of the internship once a week
  • Complete Shabar Training in person or by e-course (included in tuition)
  • Personal ministry coaching session with Cyndi
  • Eligible for discounted Sozo sessions

Term 3: Activated as First Chair

March 16 to May 15

  • Interns are activated as first chair in sessions
  • Attend weekly Monday morning meetings (8:30 to 10 a.m. PST)
  • Actively do Sozo in your own ministry once a week
  • Personal ministry coaching session with Cyndi to finalize developing your own ministry
  • Eligible for discounted Sozo sessions

First Chair Tuition

One-time payment

$1,600 total

Due by August 1.

Installment payments

$1,800 total

  • $700 due August 1
  • $650 due December 15
  • $450 due March 15

Observe Only Program

Upgrade your Sozo tools for your own ministry.

13 week term (Fall or Spring)

Fall term: September 1 to November 30
Spring term: March 1 to May 31

Tuition: $400 per term

6 week term (Summer)

Summer Term A: June 1 to July 15
Summer Term B: July 16 to August 31

Tuition: $250 per term

Each Observe Only term includes observing 2 Sozo sessions a week, joining the Sozo Internship Overseer for Monday morning meetings (8:30 to 10 a.m. PST) for support, connection, and additional training, and eligibility for discounted Sozo sessions at the Transformation Center.

Requirements and Process

Application requirements
  • Already completed Basic Sozo Training online or in person
  • Currently involved in a thriving ministry where Sozo would be applied (First Chair interns need a specific plan for how they’ll use Sozo in their church’s ministry, with their spiritual leaders’ blessing)
  • Have had your own personal Sozo session
  • Able to commit to 2 observations a week
  • No local Sozo Regional Facilitators to train you, or you’ve been released by your local Regional Facilitator to be trained by our team

Application process
  1. Submit the interest form below.
  2. Complete the online application packet.
  3. Submit the spiritual leader or mentor reference form (waived if you’re the verified leader of your Sozo ministry).
  4. Pay the nonrefundable $100 application fee.
Scheduling

Our internship is available for video-only sessions or a combination of in-person and video sessions.

In the application, you’ll provide details about your available dates and times. Once your program begins, the Sozo Internship Overseer will schedule your observation sessions. Each Sunday during your program, you’ll receive your schedule for the upcoming week.

Cyndi Barber

Our Team Supports You

Both programs include a weekly video meeting on Mondays (8:30 to 10 a.m. PST) where you can talk through your sessions, ask questions, learn more about Sozo ministry tools, and connect with other interns.

Cyndi Barber has been a Sozo minister and pastoral counselor for 20+ years. She also serves as our Sozo Internship Overseer. She’s walked through the fires of her own personal trauma to receive God’s healing, and her clients benefit from the breakthrough she’s achieved. Cyndi’s passion is to teach you from the depth of wisdom God’s given her. She’s excited about the freedom people find through Sozo and is looking forward to working with you.
