Made for Freedom

“At last we have freedom, for Christ has set us free! We must always cherish this truth…”

-Galatians 5:1

Did you know that we were designed to live in freedom? Take a look at Adam and Eve back in Genesis. God made them to be free. They could live in His garden, walk daily with Him, name the animals, and make choices. Freedom has been His plan from the beginning. After sin entered the world, Jesus died so that freedom could be reinstated.

What does it mean to be free?

We were never meant to live victim to the ways of the enemy. Ephesians 2:6 tells us that we’ve been raised up with Christ and seated in heavenly places. This means that we’ve been set apart and sat in the place of authority over the plans and attacks of the enemy.

True biblical freedom is freedom from sin, shame, and pain. God has an abundant life full of purpose and beauty designed specifically for us to live. Freedom allows us to step fully into His plan and design for our lives.

We know we live in an imperfect world with imperfect people. People hurt us and through those different hurts or traumatic experiences, we can believe lies about ourselves and God. Pain, trauma, and lies prevent us from living in freedom. But, the blood of Jesus is powerful enough to set us free and cleanse us from anything that would separate us from His gift to us.

How do we get free?

A journey of freedom isn’t necessarily linear and will look different for each person depending on past and present circumstances, but here are a few steps you can take to step into more freedom and breakthrough.

1-Get a Sozo

It may seem obvious, but it’s important! If you’re searching for freedom, get a Sozo. Sozo was designed with freedom in mind. If you’re facing cycles of sin, shame, or trauma, if there’s unresolved pain in your life, or if you feel stuck in life, a Sozo can be helpful.

2-Take a look at your heart

Sit with the Lord and together, take a look at your heart. Allow Him to reveal any areas where you’re not walking in the fullness of His freedom for you. Ask Him what it would look like if you were free in that area and then allow Him to guide you on the path you’ll take to obtain that freedom. Remember, He already paid for the healing so you don’t have to earn it! You get to simply receive His “free” gift of freedom.

3-Learn about freedom in the Word

Jesus set people free from demonic oppression and sickness many different times in the Gospels. Reading the Word helps us to realize just what kind of freedom is possible and available to us. As you read the stories of Jesus in the Bible, let Him highlight things and bring freedom to you!

What does freedom look like?

Freedom can look like many things, but it often looks like knowing your identity in Jesus and who He has created you to be. There’s an inner confidence and peace that comes with knowing how much God really does love you and how amazing of a plan He has for your life. You can show up fully as yourself without shame, or fear of judgment or rejection.

Freedom doesn’t just show up in our thought processes, but also in our emotions. With freedom comes emotional stability and safety. We feel safe to experience our emotions in full knowing all of them, whether comfortable or not, are good and valuable.

We experience freedom in our physical bodies! When we receive breakthrough and healing from trauma, our bodies experience a sense of release that can result in healing.

Freedom is unique from person to person and the Lord knows what kind of freedom and where you need it in your life. You can trust that as you’re pursuing Him, He will set you free in every way because He’s too good not to. If you’re ready to say “yes” to your freedom, click here to get started.
